Who We Are

In 2008, Todd Brents and Bill Friend opened the first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Franchise in South Carolina. This store, located in Taylors, SC, opened in December 2008, followed by a second store in Inman, SC in 2011 at the Village Greens Golf Course. Founded in 1941, Dickey’s continues its growth across the country with over 400 locations serving the best hickory smoked barbecue in the Country.

In 2012, they started a new venture at the River Falls Plantation Golf Course in Duncan, SC. Bill and Todd opened a grill and banquet facility – Sully’s at River Falls. Named in honor of Bill’s grandfather, William “Sully” Sullivan, a WWII veteran, Sully’s has developed a reputation as a prime location to host an event or wedding, stop by for dinner and entertainment, or relax after a round of golf.

In 2013, Bill and Todd started their next venture, Sullivan’s Catering and Events. Located at the Spartanburg Expo Center off I‐26, Sullivan’s has hosted events ranging from 25 to 2,500 at the Expo Center. Capitalizing on the expertise of Executive Chef Mike Simpson, Sullivan’s has created custom menus and served them on site at small intimate settings, as well as at large corporate facilities in the Upstate.

Prior to starting Sullivan’s, Bill Friend worked in the plastics manufacturing industry for 15 years, in positions ranging from supervisor to production manager for large manufacturing centers. He is a US Marine veteran. Todd Brents is a CPA and has worked in financial consulting for over 12 years. He is a US Army veteran.
